Moss-Covered Rocks

Kélanie is an afro-Indigenous Brazilian singer-songwriter currently living in Rio de Janeiro. Her practice centers on introspective and immersive songwriting.

Nature plays a central role in her work. Through observing its recurring cycles, she finds inspiration and connections to the human experience.

Her fascination with themes of change, renewal and inner transformation brought to life an experimental alt R&B EP investigating her relationship with ancestry and leaving organized religion (Mundo), an alt R&B album exploring the circular path from the spiraling mind to full presence and embodiment (Spiral), a two-part EP meditating on her experience living overseas and search for belonging (Foreign), and a folk EP exploring the ecological process of decomposition as a metaphor for human transformation (Rotten, 2028).

Working across languages and locations, often through artist residencies, Kélanie’s work is shaped by cross-cultural experiences and a devotion to a creative process that is slow and guided by nature.
